Mark your calendar for Saturday, July 11, round up your co-workers and get ready to run Huron.  The NOMS/Huron Tiger 5K and Company Cup will run the streets of Huron and everyone is invited to participate.  Starting just outside the entrance to the Riverfest at the corner of Cleveland Rd. and Williams St., the annual 5K race winds through the streets in the Old Plat section of Huron.
This year’s race looks to be better than ever.  Race organizers are issuing a challenge to area businesses to step up and run the town.  In addition to awards given to the top 3 male & female finishers in 13 age divisions, runners from different companies/businesses will compete against each other for the Company Cup title.  Is your business ready to Run this Town?  Get your co-workers together to Run Huron.
Proceeds raised from this year’s race will help assist the family of Mike Danilo.  Mike is a Huron resident and long-time supporter of Huron athletics.  Mike is battling  Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis - ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).  ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord which leads to loss of muscle control.  Join us as we rally together to Run Huron and help Mike.
Pre-registration (before July 2) is only $12 per individual runner and includes a “Cool-Max” running shirt for the 1st 120 participants registered.  Registration after July 2 will be $15.  No additional fees are required for registering your “team” (2 men & 2 women) of runners, but you must designate a team captain and pre-registration is required for all teams.  At the completion of the 5K run, a 1K Fun Run will also be held for the future runners of Huron.  The 1K fun run cost $8 and each participant will receive a T-shirt.
Individual awards will be given for the overall Male & Female winner along with the top 3 male/female finishers in these age groups:  11 & Under, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 & over.  Medals will be given to each team member winning the Company Cup along with a plaque for display.  Additional information can be obtained by visiting http://www.idocakes.biz/race.  Registration forms for individuals as well as team guidelines and team registration can be obtained from this website as well.
