Edward Domanski
Feb. 1, 1923-Jan. 31, 2012

Edward Domanski, 88, residing in Huron, passed away early Tuesday morning, Jan. 31, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.

Edward was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Jersey City, N.J. son of the late Stanley and Sophie (Antczak) Domanski. He was one of 6 children.

Edward retired for the Sandusky General Motors Corp. in 1985 after 28 years of service. He was a draftsman-designer and the family moved from Jersey City in 1966 for his job. Edward served in World War 11 in the Army-Air Force, was stationed in Australia and the Philippines and worked as an aircraft mechanic.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post 83. Edward also bowled in the Knights of Columbus League for many years, and was also a member of the Sandusky Garden Club.

He was a very generous, unassuming, and caring devout Catholic, who always put others before himself.

Edward is survived by his second wife Lois (Walton) Domanski, whom he married May 3, 1991; daughter Melanie Bates, son Ken (Sandi) Domanski; grandchildren, Emma (Paul) Kitzmiller, Jonathon Bates, Griffin Bates, Kendra (Dave) Novotny and Jenna Domanski and John Domanski, one brother in law John Lipinski, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his first wife Emelia Domanski, parents, sisters, Estelle Woods and Helen Weisbrod, one brother Chet Domanski and one son-in-law Phil Bates.

Burial took place on February 2. The Rev. Jeff Sikorski will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.

Samuel J. Pisano Sr.
Jan. 15, 1929 - Janl. 31, 2012

Samuel J. Pisano Sr., 83 of Huron, died Tuesday, Jan. 31 2012, in Firelands  Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.

He was born Jan. 15, 1929 in Huron, and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Huron High School in 1947. He worked for Lake Erie Ore Docks, Huron, for several years and then worked for Metropolitan Insurance Company, retiring in 1991.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War as a sergeant.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron, and Huron Eagles. He owned and operated the Ritz Movie Theater in downtown, Huron. For seven years. He was inducted into the Huron High School Hall of Fame. In his younger years he traveled with Huron G’s semi-pro baseball team. He was an umpire for softball for more than 30 years and was always seen around Huron athletic events.

Survivors include his daughter Debra (Chris) Clemons of Marblehead, six sons, Bruce of Castalia, Dan of Huron, Gary of Westerville, Sam (Christine) Jr. of Huron, Charles (Rosemary) of Clearwater Fla. And Dick (Cheryl) of Delaware, Ohio, 26 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, a sister Rosemary (Joseph) Defazio, of Huron, a brother Ralph C. Pisano, of Huron, and a brother-in-law Joseph “Jake” Majoy, of Huron

He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene (Rogers) in 1990, his parents, Carmelo and Caroline (Lolla) Pisano, sister Antoinette “Lilly” Majoy , and daughter-in-law Leslie (Templeton) Pisano.
Friends may call 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at St Peters Church Gathering Space, 430 Main Street, Huron. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 3, at the church with the Rev. Jeffrey Sikorski, pastor officiating. Entombment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

William J Hammond

William J. Hammond, 73, of Huron, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at

The home where he was born on Jan. 3, 1939 in Huron.

He was a 1957 graduate of Huron High School. He worked for many years as a carpenter out of Union Local 940. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron. He was a generous, kind-hearted man who was loved and respected by everyone he met. His legacy and sense of humor will live on in his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann (White); daughter Anna (Ken) Bloomberg, of Bellevue; sons Roch (Tami) Hammond, of Milan, Matt (Julie) Hammond, of Huron AD Nathan (Beth) Hammond, of Huron; sisters Winifred (Art) Herrada, of Huron, Kathleen (Gene) Maloney, of Bar Harbor, Ohio and Mary (Tom Spicer), of Lorain, brother, Robert (Ilan) Hammond, of Huron, 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William W. and Anna (Landoll) Hammond, daughter; Liz Wargo; sons, Mark “Bill” Joe and John Hammond; sister Paula Tyren; two Brothers in infancy, and two grandsons, Roch Jr. and Drew Hammond.
Friends may call from 10am Saturday February 4, until services at noon at the Huron Conservation Club, 2121 Huron- Avery Road. The Rev. William Lucht will officiate.

A mass will be said in his name by 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at St Peter Church in Huron.

Arrangements are being handled by Morman-Hinman- Tanner Funeral Home, Berlin Heights.

LaDonna J. Clawson
Dec. 2, 1928 - Jan. 28, 2012

LaDonna (Donna) J. Clawson, 83, of Huron passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 28,2012, in Hospice of the Western Reserve from stroke complications as a result of open heart surgery.

Donna was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Green Springs in Homer and Laura (Michael) Kistler and was the youngest of 6 children. She grew up in Clyde and Fremont. She attended Fremont Ross High School and married her spouse, Peter Clawson on July 30, 1949, in Fremont. He preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1978.

She was employed by the A&P grocery store in Fremont before making the decision to be a homemaker to stay home with her children, After her husband became manager of the local Kroger store, they moved to Port Clinton, where she eventually returned to work at Rich’s Market and the Kroger store in Port Clinton. Donna retired in 1989 and moved to Huron, where she helped raise her grandson, made many new friends and enjoyed life.

She was a fun and loving mom and grandma who helped create wonderful memories. Her house was a gathering place for children to play, and she helped her children and grandchildren to be creative and get involved in activities, A lover of animals, Donna allowed her children a diversity of pets throughout the years, including an occasional stray dog or cat.

It was in her retirement when Donna had time to devote all her love and energy to her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with them, cooking for them and meeting them at the pool. Enjoying good friends at her Saturday morning coffee group. Donna enjoyed the company of others and was a good friend to many. Whether it was taking them whenever the needed to go or listening when they needed it, she was always willing to help out.

Her laugh was contagious, and her smile was full of sunshine; she thoroughly enjoyed life! Adversities in life were always met with a positive attitude, and she had the special gift of appreciating the simple things in life. Her love was instinctual, unconditional and will never be forgotten.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Huron, the Ladies Auxilaries of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Erie County Senior Center.

Mary is survived by her daughters and son Susan (Mark) Faust of Sandusky, Jack (Debra) Clawson of Port Clinton and Kimberly (Edward) Steyns of Huron, three grandchildren , Justin Reyzek of Sandusky, Brent Steyns of Huron and Jeni Clawson of Port Clinton and a sister Ruby Perry of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Laura Kistler, husband, Pete, sister, Thelma and brothers, Robert, Harold and Jack.

Funeral services were Thursday Feb. 2  until funeral services at Foster Funeral Home in Huron. Pastor Ralph Schibler will officiate, Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
