Cancer Foundation Announces New Director

The North Coast Cancer Foundation has announced that Barbara Hanck is joining the Foundation to serve as its executive director.  Hanck has more than 20 years experience in non-profit management and foundation operations.  Most recently she served as President and CEO of the Sandusky/Erie County Community Foundation, and prior to that, she served as development director for Sandusky Library during their major expansion in 2004.

North Coast Cancer Foundation, located in Sandusky, supports cancer patients, their families and caregivers in Erie, Huron, Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca counties.  The foundation was established in 2007 and provides financial assistance to uninsured and underinsured patients, and also offers wellness programs for patients and their caregivers.  A major program of the foundation is the Radiation Therapy Initiative, funded by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Northwest Affiliate.  The program supports breast cancer patients who need help paying for their radiation therapy. Since 2008, the North Coast Cancer Foundation has provided $40,000 for 20 breast cancer radiation patients; the program is unique in Northwest Ohio.
Hanck said: “I don’t know any family that hasn’t been deeply affected by cancer in our community.  The North Coast Cancer Foundation is a relatively new organization and I’m honored to be a part of it.  I’m looking forward to helping the foundation grow so that we can help area patients and their families cope with their cancer experience.”
