Huron Police Announce 2009 Awards

The Huron Police Department has announced the Chief Service Award along with the Officer and Dispatcher of the Year awards for 2009. These awards are given to recognize the individual achievements of officers and dispatchers in the performance of their duties. The Chief Service Award is given to an officer or dispatcher who provides the highest quality of service to the department, promoting efficient police service and assistance to the police chief in the operation of the department. The recipient is chosen by Police Chief John Majoy and the 2009 award was given to Sergeant Kevin Durbin. Durbin is a 24-year member of the Huron Police Department and is in charge of the department’s Marine Patrol Unit. Durbin also serves as the Ohio Homeland Security Terrorism Liaison for Erie County. Sergeant Kevin Durbin The officer and dispatcher of the year awards are given annually to employees who provide the highest quality of police service to the public and promote both the department and cooperation among fellow officers. The recipient of these awards are chosen by a vote of their peers and handed out at an annual department meeting. Officer Terry Graham The Officer of the Year Award was given to Officer Terry Graham. Graham is a 20-year veteran of the Huron Police Department, serves as a firearms instructor, and is a commander on the Erie County Regional SWAT Team. The Dispatcher of the Year Award was given to Dispatcher Ryan Boesch. Boesch has been with the Huron Police Department since 2007 and also serves as an officer for Huron. Dispatcher Ryan BoeschThe three recipients of the awards will receive ribbons to be displayed on their uniforms. “It has been a year of transition and change and these three are very deserving of their respective awards,” said Chief Majoy. “I have had the pleasure of working alongside these officers and feel they did a tremendous job in 2009.”
