EHOVE Auto Body students Tyler Bivens (New London HS), Paige McNutt (New London HS), Dustin Lane (Western Reserve HS) and Brandon Ryerson (South Central HS), and their instructor Jim Linder restored and donated bikes to the Salvation Army for the holiday season.
Students applied each step they’ve learned in the Auto Body program like prep work, wrenching, sanding, painting and more to the bikes. Their goal was to make the bikes appear like new before they were donated. “It’s a fantastic chance for our students to use the skills they’ve learned here at EHOVE to help others,” said Linder.
Each of the students expressed how much they enjoyed being able to be a part of a child’s shock and joy at seeing the gift of a new bike. “It was the first time I’ve done anything like that, and it was fun to make some kid’s Christmas,” said Tyler Bivens (New London HS).
“Not all of us grew up having a bike, and that was a big deal. I’m glad we could do this,” said Paige McNutt (New London HS).
